Jesus HAD to go there.
“Where is the first mention of this?”
Genesis 16 – the first woman at a well
v. 7 “The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert.”
God doesn’t AVOID the place of pain, he meets her in it.
v. 13 “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Hagar names God, the God who SEES.
The Samaritan Woman’s story parallels Hagar’s story at the well.
The well of the LIVING ONE who sees me.
The well of the LIVING WATER.
