This word abide, in the greek, means “to make home.” When you make your home in Jesus, Jesus will make his home in you.

There is something about the life we make, the rhythms of our life, and the way we practice our friendship with Jesus that according to Jesus - looks like home. There’s a way of following Jesus that doesn’t look like just trying to get something out of Jesus, but it looks like sitting around the fireplace and hanging out with Jesus. There’s a way of following Jesus that isn’t just treating Jesus as the magic 8-ball who might give you want you want, but that is deep friendship - the place where you are free to be you.
